Kconsciousness is undergoing a new format, and we’re trying something a little different.  This is not about 1, or 3 or 10 poets doing a show.  This is about forming a community.  A collective.  Let us allow the name KConsciousness to represent us as a whole.   A hub.  A life force for which we can all call upon and utilize whenever necessary.  Can you dig this:

Our mission  is to open up the minds of our sisters and brothers through the use of each other’s spoken word; we are poets redefining our worth through the use of our tongues as that which is of this earth and sun. Poets.  Here to sir the stagnation of those in hibernation.  Here to allow ventilation and here to demand representation.   Most importantly, KConsciousness is group of individuals breaking down stereotypes in order to raise the level of our vibration.  We do so by using poetics to provoke higher-level problem solving and ice breaking amongst the tribes.  We are the vibes we have waited for and we wait no more.

If you are ready to experience and/or become among the KConscious tribe, you can do one of two things:  You can start by posting poetic events and activities here on THIS page so that we might unite as one tribe, one vibe.

That being said, you should plan on attending saidslam on October 22nd at John’s UpperDeck, 8:00 p.m. for a FREE poetry slam with $100 prize, followed by performances from the Ezee brothers and a groundbreaking set from two of KConscious’ founding poets, Nightlife Jones and Miss Conception.   It will be a dance floor essence!

Our show times are as follows:  Monday July 26 at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday July 28 at 9:00 p.m., Friday July 30 at 10:00 p.m., and Sunday afternoon August 1 at 2:30 p.m.  Each show will be a different theme, and all are held upstairs at Crosstown Station (15th and Mgee). Please make a point to come out and support, this is going to be BIG!

Friday, April 2nd at the Rime Buddhist Temple (700 West Pennway St), come experience our “Journey Through Divine Love” run through, followed by the monthly First Friday’s Gratitude Open Mic!  Show starts at 7:00 p.m. and is free; love offerings always accepted!

The real deal “Journey Through Divine Love” show will go down on Saturday, May 8th at the Aquarius Bookstore upstairs performance space.  More details to come, but SAVE THE DATE.
